Dear Friends, Supporters, Family; We had our first snow fall yesterday, but it is all melted now except for the mountains of course. Some parts of Alaska like the interior part have had snow now for a couple of weeks. After living in the Interior for so many years we feel like we live in the “banana belt” as we are about 2 weeks behind Fairbanks. The leaves are off the trees for the most part and the temperatures in the low 30’s now. The moose are freely moving around since hunting season is over. J I saw 2 Bull Moose in our front yard on Saturday, just leisurely grazing on the grass. n my devotions this morning, I was so impressed with the fact that our God is a detailed God. When he gave instructions for the Tabernacle to be built and even the clothing that was to be made for the priests, it was very detailed and everything had a meaning. He is interested in all we do and all the details of our lives. Praise God for such a personal Savior! To catch you up to date on the happenings over the last month, both of us were able to get our jury duty’s deferred again till January which freed us up to travel to see some of our missionaries in October and November, as well as for Judy to go to Oregon to watch our 4 grandchildren there while their mom and dad, Enoch and Janel, traveled to their mission headquarters in Florida. We had a great time together and it indeed was very special to have that week with the kids. While I, Judy, was gone, George was able to attend a Ministry Family Retreat in Port Alsworth and visit with Missionary’s from all over Alaska. It was a great time of connecting with many from the villages. Two of our mission families were able to attend as well. Last week, one of our appointee families that is attending Alaska Bible College in Glennallen had their baby, Silas. About an hour after he was born he stopped breathing. He was put on life support, but they are concerned that he will have permanent brain damage which could be in the form of mental retardation or cerebral palsy. He is still in the NICU at Providence H ospital and could be for several months. He still is not able to swallow or gag or suck and is being fed through a feeding tube. George has been able to be with them a number of times to minister to them. Their testimony has had a tremendous effect on the nursing staff at both hospitals. (He was born in Wasilla and then transferred to Anchorage) Pray for this couple. God could do a miracle with this baby, but if he ends up with problems, Scott and Anna are willing to do whatever God has planned for them. Next Thursday, Oct 18th we are planning to drive up to Glennallen to meet with one of our couples that used to be in Russia. Pray with us that God will give us a special time with this special couple. On Oct 26th we will fly to Kodiak where we will meet with our missionaries there. Actually the Overbeeks from Old Harbor will also be there so we will meet with all of them, two couples and one single while we are there. While there, George will be speaking at Kodiak Bible Chapel as they feature their InterAct missionaries that they support. We will return home on the 29th. November 2-5, we will fly with our mission pilot, Jerry Casey, to our Interior villages where we will meet with two of our mission families and the native couple in Ruby that are leading the church there. We will miss one of our families as they are outside visiting family, but the villages we are scheduled to go to are as follows: Nov 2 – Grayling; Nov 3 – Huslia; Nov 4 – Ruby; Nov 5 – Home. We appreciate your prayers as we fly, for safety and good weather, and for a good time of ministering to these precious missionaries and native leaders. Thank you for your prayers and for the many who support us financially, a big thank you as well. We could not do it without your prayers and support. We are so grateful for your partnership in this ministry. Thanks so much! Serving Him, George and Judy |
