Oct. 20, 2007 Prayer Requests & Updates
From two of Abba’s daughters, Leeann Deutsch & June Breithaupt

PERSONAL:  God has again displayed His great faithfulness to us this past month, guarding & providing for us in all ways during life experiences such as a flat tire, disabled computer, finances, etc. Praise Him that He does all things well and loves us deeply. Continue to pray that we will daily look to Him as ones who recognize that our very lives depend solely on Him, and submit in all ways to Him so that His Spirit can move unhindered within and through us, not limited by our dim vision or doubts or fears. Pray for wise use of our time, and for energy and joy in serving Him, The King.

HISPANIC MINISTRY:
Forks Kids Klub:  Klub has resumed with 12- 20 kids each week. Leeann is teaching Bible stories about “choices” in life. Pray that each heart will be willingly responsive to the Holy Spirit’s working and that these young lives will be protected from the enemy. Pray for S. a 1st grader who states she continues to experience “nightmares” sometimes triggered by things she says she has to watch with her family even though she doesn’t want to. In the past she has told us that she prays to God but He doesn’t answer her. She professes to have accepted Jesus as Savior. She is from a tribal language group.

Forks Ladies ministry:  We’ve started English classes this year with 6-7 ladies in 2 classes, double what we started with last fall & about where we ended last spring before the Guatemalan ladies came. Most of these ladies remain after ESL class to attend the ½ hour Spanish ladies Bible study. Two of the 4 ladies from outside the mobile home park have returned; one seems very spiritually interested in the Bible study & last week requested the English & Spanish words for one of the songs we’re teaching, “You are my Hiding Place.” We also meet individually with 6 of these ladies for tutoring times. Last week Leeann went to tutor one lady outside the mobile home park & ended up with a class of 4! We don’t know yet if they will be regulars, but wonder if God is going to expand the ministry to a new location?? Pray God will build the Hispanic part of the Body of Christ His way.

We anticipate our first special English practice time in November when we’ve invited an English-speaking friend (believer) to teach how to make apple pies. We’ll meet in one of the ladies’ trailers at the mobile home park. We hope these (monthly?) times will not only allow English practice but will become times when we can help believers in the community make connections that turn into friendships with these ladies, something we see need for as we personally live in Port Angeles, over an hour away from Forks. Pray that God will connect us with the ladies needed to build these kinds of local friendship bridges which will allow greater exposure for evangelism & discipleship.

General Hispanic ministry:  Praise God for provision of Spanish language classes once a week on evenings we can each attend. Leeann was able to get into the beginning class after being put on the waiting list. June’s class was initially cancelled by the college but the teacher decided to hold it on her own outside of the college. These are interesting times of mixing with others of our own culture who need to know Jesus Christ, as well as opportunities to learn/practice Spanish.

OLYMPIC BIBLE CAMP- August 4-15, 2008. Praise God that He provided a change of dates, pushing camp back by one week into August this year which allows us to spend one more week with our summer Hispanic ministry, particularly with the Guatemalans who are eager for classes during June-August. Pray for the planning, staff, speakers and financial needs of this next year’s camps.

Continue to pray for our safety as we travel this winter.  Pray also that God will increase our financial support level by the end of this year to the place He wants it to be for next year’s monthly checks. He has been faithful to keep us going this year, strengthening our faith and teaching & providing for us in so many unexpected (to us) ways. Truly He is a wonderful God!

“Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that…and it did not....” James 5: 16b-18.
Our God is like no other:  He solicits and acts in response to the prayers of His godly people!
